Ruby joins HIVE IT from SAGE Greenfingers — a charity who use gardening to support people with mental health issues. We first met Ruby when she was responsible for writing the new content for SAGE’s website update which HIVE implemented on a pro bono basis.
Having worked closely with Ruby, we were interested to work with her to find out if her skills were transferable.
After graduating from St Andrews with a degree in English Literature, Ruby worked for L’Oreal within the PR department before moving to Conde Nast where she worked for GLAMOUR and WIRED magazines. After learning her trade in publishing, Ruby pursued freelance digital marketing before moving to New York where she joined a digital agency who specialised in medical marketing.
Returning to the UK, Ruby was ready to join the third sector to learn what she couldn’t discover in the corporate sector. There she learnt the art of negotiation, event planning and how to cultivate tomatoes on the allotment site.
Ruby joins HIVE as Business Development Manager and will work across the teams to support existing projects as well as recruiting new business.
If Ruby could work on any project of the past, it would be...
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders — a project whose success lay in strategy, logistical planning and medical skill. Seeing how technology and the web were used to support the aid offering would have been fascinating.
